SUMMER! YIPEE! Hey, Why is it Raining?

As those of you who live in the Bay Area have noticed, we have not been having the best of weather for summer. Yesterday it rained and rained all day when it was completely sunny the day before! Today was better, but it still was drizzling. Anyway... I am doing a skateboard camp right now, and it is really fun! Later, I am going to do a sewing camp and my girls chorus away camp. Hope you have a great summer!

Happy Easter!

It has definitely been a while since I last blogged! I recently made an amazing lemon layer cake that was gluten free. Delicious!!!! If you would like to make this wonderful cake visit the Food Network recipe website. Anyway..... Easter is coming up and I would like to wish you all a happy Easter! This year I am going to go to visit my Grandma Pat, Grandma Llana, and Grandpa Steve. It is going to be lots of fun. We might have an Easter Egg hunt?!?!

Fifth grade has been going very well, and I love my teacher. Mrs. Brookes (my teacher) sometimes yells really loudly if she is very annoyed and is a little forgetful. I still like her anyway because she is very fun and can be super nice. We are going on a field trip to Gold Country (near Columbia) next Monday! We are going to learn about moving West and what it was like to be a California Gold Minor. I can't wait!

Once again HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!!!! If you don't celebrate Easter, happy Spring Break! :-)

New School Year!!!!

The new school year began on my dad's birthday, August 30th. I was very exited to finally be in the 5th grade! On the other hand, I was kind of sad because Ryan and I won't be going to the same school anymore! He was sad to, but very exited to start at a new school, Oakland School for the Arts. He was exited to finally have periods, and to be in 6th grade. At last! So far in my school and Ryan's school, everything has been going great. I have Mrs. Brookes as my 5th grade teacher. She is very nice and likes art just like me. We has computers on Monday, P.E. on Tuesday, nothing so far on Wednesday or Thursday, and Art and Music on Friday. Student council elections started up already. This year, I am not going to run for anything even though last year, I was the Secretary. Everyone wants me to run for President, but it's to late for that now! It has been very cold recently here in Oakland, even though we had a really long heat wave from when we went camping to about 4 days after school started. I have joined a new hula hulau and I am auditioning for a competition in October. The hula instructor is very hard on us and we have to run for a long time, do 3 types of leg exercises, and then we have to do a weird type of push-up where you only do the push-up with the top half of your body. Even though he makes us do all of these things for a really long time, I still really love this hulau. Another problem is the times of the practices. Rehearsal is two days a week on Saturday and Monday. On Mondays, although we will be switching off with the boys, runs until 10:00pm which is very very late for a school night. I guess that I'll just have to be tired on Tuesdays! San Francisco Girls Chorus is great. It is on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in San Francisco. We have worked out a Bart-pool that has two other girls. We go on Bart to the end of the line, then take Muni to 1 and a half blocks down the street and into the chorus building. I guess that's it for now!

Oregon

Last week, our family went to Oregon because Ryan had a children's choral festival called Piccfest.

When we picked Ryan and mom up, we went on our way to Fort Brag when we had to stop at a gas station. We got out of the car had the guy there fill up the tank, and went to the bathroom. When we got back to the car, it wouldn't start. We were at the gas station for about half an hour calling Mercades Benes dealers (most of theme weren't Mercades dealers anymore). Then we had to call the tow truck. The tow truck took us to the dealer where we spent half an hour. We finally figured out that it was something to do with the shifter and the new shifter wouldn't be there until Wednesday. That meant that we wouldn't be able to go to Fort Brag. We decided to stay in Ashlend which was about twenty miles away. We also went to see the play The Music Man. I don't like the movie but I really enjoyed the play because it was very realistic. Mom, Dad, and Ryan also enjoyed it. It went from 8:30 to 11:00. It was late! We also decided that we would either go to Bolinis Beach for a week afterward or to Fort Brag after Ryan went to boys chorus camp. The next day, we drove Ryan to camp and then headed home. When he comes home it will have been almost a month since he was home. And that was our vacation.

This is our first visit to the Hills swim club. We joined the Wednsday before this picture was taken. Ryan and I were very exited about joining because the only other pool that we could go to without having to take swimming lessons was grandma Pat's pool. Ryan is jumping in the pool and I am going after him. At the pool, we met one of the boys in my grade that I know. I didn't know him very well and he didn't know me. We had only seen each other on the playground before. He invited us to play with him and his friend Noah (the boy in my grade's name is Sam). We played water tag. We had a lot of fun until it was time for us to go. Insted of getting straight into our towels, we went to the hot tub to warm up. We went for our second time on Sunday. I met one of my friends from school there. I had no idea that her family belonged. Her name is Gracie and she has a little sister named Lucy. Lucy is in kindergarten. I also met a new friend named Sydney. She has a friend named Nicole who belongs to the Hills. Fortunately, I got to meet Nicole because she was at the pool because it was such a hot day. We stayed there for three hours that day, and we had an awesome lunch there too. I had a quesadilla with french fries (which was really a grilled cheese sandwich), Ryan had a mini cheese pizza, dad had fish and chips, and mom had a really big gardenburger that she loved(she gave me two slices of tomato). I love the Hills!!!!

My Hula Compatition

This summer I went to Reno for a hula competition. First we stoped in Sacramento and my dad bought another part of his company. We got to have lunch with the old owner and now my dad ownes it. It was really fun. Then we went on down to Reno early and stayed there for 2 extra days. It was really fun. You could go gambling, watch a show, or you could chow on what ever you want like a big bowl of crab. Then, finally, on Saturday, we all went down to the place where the competition was. We all went on stage and did our little dance for king Kalakaua, the last king of Hawaii. It was really fun to be in front of all the 3 Judges. Before they announced the winners I got a special ring that made good luck it seemed! The winners from every group were us in 1st place. But in 1 category we won 2nd place. After that we went down to Tahoe and we stayed at a hotel on the beach. We made a really strong sand pond and we put a hurt crayfish in into it. We put lots of little fish that crayfish eat. We let the crayfish go the day that we left. luckily it had already healed by than. After that mom and dad dropped me and Ryan of at grandmas house.

Easter at grandmas house

Me and my brother Ryan spent Easter with our grandma after a 2 hour drive to her house while she was in church. When we got to her house it was 12:00. We went out to brunch with her and our cousins. When we got back to her house we had an Easter egg hunt. Cris one of my cosines kept telling me where some of the eggs where hidden. We got our late Christmas presents from them because we never saw them at Christmas. We stayed over night at our grandmas house. The next morning we went to my other grandmas house. We had lunch with her. Then we drove back here to our house.

New Year's Eve

On New year's Eve I went to my Friends house for a party there. We stade there tell 12:30pm.At midnight,it was very loud and it smelled like gas.We made a fastest milk drinking contest and I got there place because I got milk in my eye. We Had lots of fun with our Friend including Lot's of other Friend's.Our family brote a drink that you make out of a sugar cube, pomegranate flavoring and kids champagne. You could also make it with regular champagne.

Christmas

This Christmas we went to my grandma's house. Last year everyone opened their presents at the same time. But this year my mom had a great idea. So this year we opened our presents one at a time so that everyone could see what every one got. There had to be a person whom had to have a piece of paper with everyone's name on it and when someone opened their present the person with the paper had to put a check next to their name. The person that had the paper turned out to be me. It was fun but hard to find the right presents for the right people. We had a fun Christmas and I'm hoping you did to!

My Blog

I decided to make a Blog because my brother Ryan had made one three months ago. So I decided to make one my self. I named it "Lavender Arts" because I like the color lavender, the smell of lavender, art, and music.
